The President of CONFEA, Eng. José Tadeu da Silva, opened on Wednesday 4 May the preparatory meeting for the International Conference. He stressed the importance of gathering Engineering and Agronomy experts to address the issues that occupy the agenda of the civil society and the global public policy.

“Water and energy are unquestionably linked. The conference discussions will be in line with the recently signed Paris Agreement that provides global efforts against climate change and its effects” said Tadeu.

The July International Conference aims at formalizing engineering contributions to the development and deployment of new sustainable technologies in the areas of Water, Energy and Sanitation to later present them at the 8th World Water Forum, to be held in March 2018 in Brasilia.

The opening session will include CONFEA President José Tadeu and Vice President Carlos Alberio, the Pan American Engineers Associations Union (UPADI) representative Edmar Amorim; WFEO President Jorge Spitalnik; Brazilian Federation of Engineering Associations (FEBRAE) representative Celso Leal, CREA-DF President Flavio Correia, National Federation of Engineers (FNE) President Murilo Pinheiro and Confederation of Agricultural Engineers of Brazil President (CONFAEAB)Angelo Petto.

During the opening of the second preparatory meeting of the Conference that took place on 4 July in Brasilia, Eng. Tadeu underlined once more the importance of this event “It will be an opportunity to find out the solutions proposed by other countries”. Tadeu joked that people only give importance to energy just when the phone battery is dead or when there is no outlet for the computer nearby.

Tadeu to add that “Engineering and Agronomy are the professions that can provide solutions to the current crisis in Brazil; there is no other way”. Tadeu da Silva pointed out that within WFEO, Brazil participates in a some 90 countries network, which includes nations that have great solutions in the area.
