Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy

Countries around the world are recognizing the need for Greening & Earth friendly Technologies for good governance and also as a social responsibility. Engineers Australia is once again organizing the ASEAN – AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERING CONGRESS to promote good practices in sustainable development.

Sustainability is becoming of much importance and yet many stake holders are struggling to balance the competing forces of profitability and sustainability. Sustainability contributes to long term profitability along with social responsibility by minimizing the use of material & energy resources.

Climate change is a reality and its impact both on global warming and subsequent melting of polar ice will result in increase in sea levels. Some efforts have been made towards reduction of energy use with better sustainability practices such as green building index and the use of energy efficient products for the consumers.

Every development needs to factor a formula for optimizing the use of resources including materials, man power and energy. Such demands places greater burden on engineers and practitioners to incorporate sustainable development in the early concept of the design processes. Infrastructure development and manufacturing industries continuously grow with the rise in population and this places high demand on management of resources & waste and to maximize energy efficiency.

This congress presents an opportunity to consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers academicians, local councils, including government agencies to discuss sustainable engineering solution for the advancement of economic growth while preserving the fragile environment. Innovative engineering and potential solutions will be presented in the form of technical presentations to encourage constructive discussion and on the ever increasing trend to harness the forces of nature and to balance the complex equation of material & energy sustainability, ecosystem and renewable energy. This congress will be a platform to address the complex eco system to continuously meet the challenges of sustainability of decreasing resources and also to manage renewability of energy.

Suppliers and contractors of innovative environmental friendly products are welcome to exhibit their technologies which is scheduled to run in parallel with the congress.
